Law of Attraction: How to Act As If & Attract All That You Want

One of the most powerful ways to enhance your life and attract the things that you want is to simply act as if you already have it.

The moment you do this is the moment the universe will start to mobilize all its powers to bring your desires to reality.

By acting as if, a powerful statement is sent to both the universe and yourself. You’re affirming your inborn ability to think and act from a place of faith and abundance, no longer will your actions be dictated by your circumstances and surroundings.

You’ll acknowledge your role as an active creator of your life.

In this post, I will guide you thoroughly and show you exactly what you need to do so that you can immediately start using this technique to manifest anything you want.

How pretending works?

All that we are, all that we have in life comes down to our thoughts, you’ve probably heard this before. But it goes a little deeper than that.

In every person, there’s this little thing called the self-image that dictates all the choices and decisions they make.

Your self-image is more than just the way you look at yourself, it is the culmination of all the beliefs you have about your own capabilities, talents, traits, and weaknesses.

This means that the limits to what you’re able to achieve and manifest with the law of attraction are strongly determined by how you view yourself.

Due to the many ups and downs of life, the self-image that we possess is seldom ideal, often limiting our ability to utilize the law of attraction to our fullest potential.

This technique of ‘acting as if’ will allow you to transform your self-image into one that works in your favor to help you attract what you want.

As your self-image changes, all your thoughts and mental processes will start falling into place on their own.

The vibrations you put out will be much more positive and negative emotions will arise far less frequently.

The vibrations you send out to the universe

When you act and live in an abundant way as if all your desires have already come true.  You will put out the very same vibrations as someone who already has what you want.

As you put out these vibrations, the universe can’t help but respond in kind. Inevitably, you will start attracting the things that you pretend to have.

This is the law of attraction, the external reality of your life will always end up matching the deepest levels of your psyche.

The effects on your subconscious mind

Acting as if also serves as a brilliant way to trick the subconscious mind, the primary source of all that you attract, into believing what you want it to.

You see, the subconscious mind is incapable of telling the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined.

When you believe that you’ve already successfully attracted what you want, your subconscious mind will do everything in its power to make your beliefs come true.

Now before I go on, keep in mind that the best gauge for your progress with this technique is to observe the way that you feel.

Feelings are thoughts in their most condensed form. When you feel good, you will naturally attract good things into your life.

You’ll know that you’re making progress if you start feeling really good as you go along.

The first step: Looking the part

What is it that you want? Is it to be someone who’s rich, abundant and successful? Or maybe it’s to be someone fit and healthy.

Whatever it is, try your best to look like someone who already has it.

For example, if you want to attract money, make it a point to dress smart, like how someone who’s successful and rich would.

Or perhaps you wish to improve your romantic life. How would someone who’s happily in love dress like? Think about it and dress that way.

The secret to making this work: Follow your own ideas of what success looks like

We all have different ideas as to what different things look like. For example, you’d be surprised to find out not everyone has the same image of a rich person.

To some, a wealthy and successful person would appear as a smartly dressed individual.

To some, the image of a rich person would be a successful entrepreneur who dresses in plain t-shirts and pants.

It all comes down to you, how do you believe someone who has what you want dresses like? Dress in that manner.

Ignore what is portrayed in media and society, and follow the image of success that you yourself believe in.

You will have much better results if you follow your own ideas of what success looks like.

Acting the part

Here comes the juicy part, actually acting as if you already have what you want.

How would someone who has what you want act? What would their daily habits and actions be like? How would they talk? Emulate them as much as you can.

You have to willfully ignore what you observe in your present circumstances. Do your best to believe wholeheartedly that you already have what you want regardless of what’s currently going around you.

It will feel strange and even silly at first, but as you keep at it, it’ll start feeling more natural.

And eventually, your reality will arrange itself to match the way you’re acting.

Practicality: As much as your circumstances allow

Now, I understand that this can be difficult, especially if what you’re trying to attract differs greatly from what you currently have. However, with a little effort, it can be done.

There are some things we can’t do when ‘acting as if’ due to the imitations that we find in our present circumstances.

For example, say you’re trying to act like you’re already financially abundant, but you find it hard to act generous, simply because you can’t spend money you don’t have yet.

In such situations, the best thing you can do would be to scale it down.

Like in this case of acting abundant, put yourself in situations where it’s easier to be generous.

Treat a friend to a decent meal instead of forcing yourself to buy expensive jewelry.

By doing it this way, ‘acting as if’ won’t be unnecessarily difficult and you will still be able to make the necessary mental shifts.

Take note of your environment

The environment we’re in has a huge influence on our thoughts and feelings as well as our whole vibration.

Try to make the environments in your daily as conducive to your goals as possible.

Some aspects of our environment, like our workplace, may not be within our control but controlling what we can is enough.

For example, you may not be able to change your working environment but you’ll likely be able to change the decoration of your house/room.

The key is to make your environment induce feelings of already having what you want.

Say you’re trying to manifest a romantic relationship, you’d want to sleep on a bed big enough for 2 people. You should have enough space in your closet for the clothes of two people.

What you speak about, watch what you say

“Watch what you say for it becomes your destiny.”

A significant part of successfully applying this technique is to say the right things.

The words that we utter daily have a huge influence over our thoughts and beliefs and play a big role in determining what we attract.

The good news is that the words that we say are very much within our control and doesn’t take much effort to control.

Don’t complain

As goes without saying, you should avoid complaining.

No matter what happens, avoid complaining about anything at all. Complaining is pretty much acting as if you have what you don’t want.

Do the opposite of complaining and speak words of appreciation and gratitude.

Focus on the good you currently have in your life and express your gratitude for them verbally.

Talking about your manifestation goals with others

If possible, try to avoid talking about your manifestation goals with other people.

Unless they understand what you’re trying to do with the law of attraction, their reactions would only cause you to feel doubt.

However, If you really need to speak to others about what you’re trying manifest, just talk about how you’re working towards your goal and how positive you feel in reaching it.

There’s no need to go into detail, the less you talk about your goals, the better.

Feel as if you have it

Just as important as what you say, how you dress and how you act is how you feel.

Your feelings and emotions are clear reflections of the vibrations that you’re sending out to the universe.

Therefore, you’ll want to feel at a gut level as if you already have what you want.

A good way to change your present feelings and put yourself in the most ideal emotional state is through imagination.

Through imagination, you’ll able to change your feelings at a very deep level.

Here’s one of my favorite imagination techniques to make yourself feel as if you already have what you want.

Imagining: An act as if exercise

Close your eyes and imagine that you already have what you want to manifest.

Now take a piece of paper and list down all that you feel. Satisfaction? Happiness? Accomplishment? Pride? Whatever you feel, list all of it down.

Being aware of exactly what emotions you feel will help you feel them much more intensely.

You see people do it all the time with negative emotions, for example, shy people are usually acutely aware of how shy they are and because of this, they end up feeling even shier.

We’re taking this very same approach except for positive emotions.

When you’re able to feel as if you already have it, it will be reflected in your actions and the vibrations that put out. And from, everything that follows will be good.

Excitement: How thrilled would you be when you get what you want? Feel that now.

How exciting would it be to finally manifest what you want? Allow yourself to feel that excitement now at this very moment.

Being able to feel a sense of hopeful anticipation in your daily life is very beneficial.

One thing you have to look out for when using this technique.

As powerful and effective as this ‘acting as if method’ is, there’s something that you need to watch out for. Impatience.

Impatience is one of the biggest obstacles people face when using this technique.

Therefore, you must make it a point to do all you can to prevent yourself from ever feeling impatient.

Feeling impatient carries the risk of making everything backfire.

Not only will it interfere with the workings of the universe. It can take the hope, faith, and belief that you gain from this technique and turn them into doubt and a feeling of self-deception.

Time and time again, I’ve heard of people attempting to use this technique to attract their dreams only to stop halfway and call it nonsense.

Their lack of success and perseverance all stem from the same cause, a lack of patience.

I’d even go as far as to say that it’s okay to feel other negative emotions from time to time, but you must always try your best to guard against the feeling of impatience.

Not to worry however, impatience can be kept at a distance if you know how to. I’ll show you some of the effective methods that I’ve personally used to avoid feeling impatient.

3 things you can do to keep impatience far away;

Don’t worry or think about when your goal will manifest

Try your best to avoid thinking about when your goal will manifest.

The more you wonder about when it’s going to come, the longer it’s going to take and the more impatient you’re going to feel.

Have faith and know that what you want is already on its way to you.

If you struggle with impatience, try to avoid actively looking for signs of your desires manifesting.

Keep your focus completely on looking, acting, and feeling as if you already have what you want and it’ll be here as fast as the laws of reality will allow.

Note: If your goal involves a certain time limit or you wish to attract something within a specific time frame, I recommend that you use the “acting as if technique” only as a supplementary technique to other more appropriate techniques such as the 55×5 method.

Take inspired action, don’t worry about how. Have blind faith in the actions that you choose to take now.

Being idle and having nothing to do while waiting for your goal to manifest is one of the main causes of impatience.

When you idle, you create space for worry, doubt, and impatience to sow.

The best way to overcome this is to take action. Not just any action, but inspired action, which are actions that are in line with your goals and the workings of the universe.

To take inspired action, simply believe in your actions 100 percent, whatever you do, know from the bottom of your heart that it will lead you closer to your success. This is the secret of taking inspired action.

So say, your goal is to lose weight. Aside from acting as if you’re already fit, you should start exercising also. But don’t fret about the kinds of workouts you should do, just do them with complete belief that they will help you lose weight.

And don’t worry about how the universe will bring about what you want, let the universe take care of that with its infinite intelligence.

Do all of this and you’ll be able to work alongside the universe to attract what you want, you won’t even have the time to feel impatient anymore.

Make peace with your present circumstances

It is important that you make peace with the current circumstances of your life as well.

Desperation, doubt, and impatience can all emerge from feeling too much dissatisfaction with what you currently have.

Changes, especially big positive changes can only come after acceptance.

Know at your core that you already have what you want and that your circumstances are changing for the better.

Resist the urge to pass judgments on the state of your life now. Understand that they are only temporary.

As you become more adept at ‘acting as if’, you’ll naturally start to feel more at peace with your present circumstances anyway.

Still, try to make a conscious effort and decision to accept them.

When you’re able to achieve a decent level of acceptance over your present circumstances, everything becomes easier.

Ironically you will attract what you want at an even faster rate.

Follow all 3 steps I’ve listed above and impatience will mostly disappear, which is essential if you want to succeed with this technique.

Conclusion

Once upon a time, I was an extremely cynical individual, I’d only believe in my own success when I could actually physically see and feel it.

The old me would have never considered doing something like “acting as if”.

Yet one day I decided to give it a shot and my life went on to change forever.

I realized that success works both ways. Most people know that being successful will allow you to feel successful and confident. But not many know that acting like you’re already successful in the first place will bring about that very success.

Now the last thing I want to say is that the act as if technique isn’t an overnight solution, so get into it gradually with small steps at a time.

If you have the persistence to keep at it for at least a few months, reality will have no choice but to adjust itself to align with your new self-image and vibrations.

Manifesting what you will then be pretty much inevitable.
